Georgia deserves credit for win over Georgia Tech for one big reason

Rivalry games can be weird sometimes, so Georgia should celebrate this win even if they didn't play that well.

Georgia football did not play their best game Friday night, but it didn't matter as they beat Georgia Tech 16-9.

UGA fans will likely find a lot of reasons to be upset after this game because it was one of their worst performances of the season. Kirby Smart will likely agree with everyone and not be too thrilled about this victory either. But at the end of the day Georgia should be thankful because winning a football game is not easy, and winning a rivalry game is even more difficult.

Georgia should be happy even after a below average performance

Weird things happen every season during rivalry week. Just last year Georgia was favored by nearly three touchdowns against Georgia Tech and the Yellow Jackets almost pulled off the upset in Athens. So this week it especially doesn't matter how good or bad Georgia plays as long as they win, and that is exactly what they did.

There are however a lot of positive takeaways to be had from this game even if they didn't play that well overall. Georgia's defense held Tech to just nine points and didn't let them score a touchdown all night. Nate Frazier also had one of the best games of his career as he nearly surpassed 100 rushing yards in the first half alone.

And it's always a good thing when Georgia wins even after their leader, Gunner Stockton, had arguably the worst game of his season.

So even though there is a lot to learn from this game, Georgia should take a little extra time to celebrate this big rivalry win. Georgia Tech is a really good team who was more than capable of pulling off the upset, so a victory of any kind against the Yellow Jackets deserves to be celebrated just as much as any other win.
