Georgia draws conference rival with early time slots in CWS Athens Super Regional

Georgia will battle a familiar foe in some early time slots in the CWS Super Regional.

Georgia is ready to take on the Super Regionals after a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Athens Regional last weekend. Waiting for the Bulldogs are the Bulldogs as Georgia will face fellow SEC program Mississippi State in a three-game series this weekend.

The winner of this seires will advance to the College World Series. For Georgia it would be their first appearance at the World Series since 2008 while Mississippi State hasn’t been back since winning a National Championship in 2021.

When do Georgia and Mississippi State play in the CWS Super Regional?

Super Regional play for some teams begin on Friday, but Georgia and Mississippi State will begin their three-game series on Saturday, June 6 with first pitch scheduled for 11:00 am EST.

Game two is scheduled for Sunday, June 7 with first pitch set for Noon EST.

If game three is needed they will play on Monday, June 8. No time for this game has been announced yet but it more than likely would be later in the day to accommodate fans.

How to watch Georgia and Mississippi State in the CWS Super Regional

Game one between Georgia and Mississippi State will be aired on ESPN. Game two the following day will also be aired on ESPN as well.

Game three doesn’t have a television network assigned to it yet, but if that game is needed it most likely will be on national television.

What does Vegas think about Georgia and Mississippi State’s CWS Super Regional?

Vegas oddsmakers have not released odds for this series specifically, but they do have odds for both Georgia and Mississippi State to win the College World Series.

Georgia currently has the third-best odds in the country at +500 while Mississippi State has the fifth-best at +700. While these odds don’t say anything specifically about this upcoming series it does indicate that Georgia is a slight favorite to advance over Mississippi State.

Georgia and Mississippi State season recap

Georgia and Mississippi State’s Super Regional tilt is one of two matchups this year between teams in the same conference. These two sides faced off four times this season so far, and it’s Georgia who has a perfect 4-0 record.

This includes a series sweep back in April at Mississippi State that featured three very close games. Game one ended in a 10-9 victory, game two finished 3-1 in favor of Georgia, and Georgia won game three in extra innings 8-5.

Fast forward a month and a half and Georgia also beat Mississippi State once again in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament 5-3.

In just a few short days Georgia and Mississippi State will battle it out to see who advances to the College World Series. Georgia is the slight favorite, but at this point in the season anything is possible.
