The SEC is and always will be the most difficult conference in the country. It seems like every week Georgia has to line up against some of the best teams in the country which makes their life extremely difficult when it comes to contending for championships.

Georgia has faced a very challenging path so far this season already after playing Tennessee and Alabama, but their final stretch of SEC games has a weird quirk to it. Instead of playing a gauntlet of ranked teams, the Bulldogs actually only have one more ranked SEC opponent left on their schedule.

Georgia only faces one more ranked SEC team

Georgia’s final ranked opponent left on their schedule is Ole Miss who is the No. 4 team in the country. The Bulldogs will face the Rebels next week which looks to be the most difficult game left on their schedule.

Other than the Rebels though, there isn’t another SEC team left on their schedule that’s currently ranked. This includes Auburn who Georgia will face on the road this week as well as Florida, Mississippi State and Texas.

Just because these four teams aren’t ranked though doesn’t mean they aren’t good. Georgia is only favored by 3.5 points at Auburn this weekend, so that shows how difficult this game will be. Then there’s Florida who may already have three losses but just beat Texas this past weekend.

Speaking of the Longhorns, they very well could be the easiest SEC team left on their schedule because they have still not beaten a power four opponent this season. Then there’s Mississippi State who’s been one of the surprise teams in the league who isn’t a pushover like they’ve been in previous years.

The fact that Georgia only faces one more ranked SEC team this season does not mean their path is easy. Most of the teams left on their schedule have the ability to take UGA down, so Georgia is going to have to be at their best if they’re going to win their final five games. But that should be the expectation for this UGA team, and if they pull that off they’ll have a chance to defend their SEC Championship in Atlanta at the end of the season.
