One of Georgia football fans favorite Bulldogs from the past few years is defensive back Dan Jackson. Jackson had a stellar career in Georgia, but as he now enters the NFL there have been a lot of questions surrounding his ability to make an NFL roster and contribute on the field.
Those concerns however are beginning to go away after Jackson was projected to make the 53-man roster with the Detroit Lions.

Dan Jackson projected to make Detroit Lions 53-man roster
Jackson has one of the better stories in all of football. His career at Georgia began as a walk-on where nothing much was expected of him. That however changed over the years where he eventually became a starting safety for UGA where he was one of Georgia's most consistent players last season.
Even though Jackson shined on an elite defense during the 2024 season, he somehow was not invited to the 2025 NFL Combine. That however didn't slow him down as he impressed a lot of NFL coaches during Georgia's Pro Day. This included the Detroit Lions who ended up selecting him with the 230th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
It's one thing to be drafted by an NFL team, but it's another to actually make their roster and not be stashed away on their practice squad. Thankfully for Jackson it sounds like he is in prime position to make Detroit's final 53-man roster, according to a roster prediction from ESPN's Eric Woodyard.
Every Georgia fan knows hos silly it would be to not include Jackson on Detroit's final roster. Jackson has always been able to overachieve at every stage of his career so far, and he is already doing that in the NFL after not being invited to the Combine. So if the Lions are serious about contending for a Super Bowl this season, they will include Jackson on their final roster because he knows what it takes to be successful and win football games.
