Georgia football fans love Dan Jackson. His story of beginning as a walk-on only to rise and become a starter on Georgia’s elite defense is second to none.

Jackson has now moved on to the NFL where he was drafted by the Detroit Lions. He already has a difficult road in front of him once again if he wants to become a regular player for Detroit, but that road became much more challenging after he reportedly suffered an injury this past weekend.

Dan Jackson is out with a leg injury

Detroit Lions reporter Dannie Rogers reported that Jackson unfortunately suffered a leg injury this past weekend. No update was given about how the injury occurred or if it is serious, but any injury at this point in his career isn’t great.

The odds have already been stacked against Jackson since his Georgia career came to an end. Jackson was not invited to the 2025 NFL Combine, so he already wasn’t given much of a chance to get drafted this year. Thankfully he was still drafted by Detroit, but that came at the end of the draft where players aren’t guaranteed to even make the 53-man roster.

A separate report about Jackson however did surface last week predicting that he would make the Lions final roster. That report however came before this injury, so that could change based on how significant this injury turns out to be.

But Georgia fans know better than anyone else how resilient Jackson is. If anyone is able to overcome an early injury in their NFL career and not skip a beat it is Jackson. So the last thing anyone should do right now is doubt Jackson, because he will prove them wrong like he has done since the moment he arrived at Georgia.
