Slowly but surely, the Georgia Bulldogs will be backfilling their NFL Draft and transfer portal exits with an influx of new talent. Although the incoming recruiting class will be predominantly freshmen, there will be a few new faces coming to Athens for spring semester. One player of note who just Committed to the G is former USC Trojans cornerback Braylon Conley. He has three years of eligibility remaining.
On3's Hayes Fawcett was all over the commitment that happened right after Isiah Canion just signed.

Even though Conley plays a totally different position from Branch, the Georgia connection to USC remains strong. This is in part because former USC interim head coach Donte Williams is a vibrant part of Kirby Smart's staff. He is an elite recruiter and an excellent developer of talent in the back-end. Georgia clearly thought enough about Conley to bring him aboard with three years of eligibility left.
Conley is now the third transfer to commit to Georgia thus far by joining Canion and Khalil Barnes.
Georgia lands Braylon Conley's commitment after transferring from USC
This offseason could serve as an inflection point for Kirby Smart and his staff. Despite having won back-to-back national championships in 2021 and 2022. It will be at minimum four years between national titles now. Although Georgia won its two most recent in the era of NIL, both came in the four-team College Football Playoff. It has since expanded to 12. UGA has yet to win a game in this format...
What this transfer signifies to Georgia is as follows. First off, it says that Williams still carries cachet over in Southern California. That will matter for recruitment for as long as he is a part of this Georgia staff. The second is players would rather play for Kirby Smart than Lincoln Riley, especially in this new era of the sport. The last has everything to do with depth and opportunity. Georgia can provide that.
In the end, Conley comes to Georgia hoping to prove himself. At Georgia, the best players will play. Smart has no qualms about having an unheralded guy take playing time away from some guy with stars attached to his name if he believes the unsung player can make Georgia better. Conley may have a connection with Williams, but he will have to play his heart out to be compared to Branch.
Georgia is finally starting to make some big things happen in the transfer portal midway through it.
