Georgia football's name is being dragged through the mud thanks to former Bulldog legend Jalen Carter. Carter and the Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the 2025 NFL season on Thursday Night Football against the Dallas Cowboys, but as the game was still getting underway Carter made what will go down as one of the most boneheaded decisions in recent NFL history before the first snap of the game even took place

Carter and the Eagles defense were taking the field after the opening kickoff, and before the first play of the game Carter spit on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. This resulted in Carter's ejection, which may just be the fastest ejection to start an NFL season in the history of the league.

Football fans erupted after this play on social media and have been calling Carter out for this disgusting play. And while Georgia fans may be more hesitant to talk badly about him, they are also voicing their displeasures for how poorly Carter represented Georgia Thursday night.

While this incident has more of an impact on the Eagles and the perception of their organization, it still shines a terrible light on Georgia. The Georgia football program has had a lot of issues staying out of trouble over the last few years, especially when it comes to driving related incidents. So whenever a new incident occurs it gives football fans more ammunition to make fun of Georgia and question what goes on in their program.

Georgia fans will always have their players backs, both while they are still playing in Athens and when they are in the NFL, but it is impossible to defend this decision from Carter. It will be interesting to see what transpires from this incident and if the NFL takes any further action, but it goes without saying that this is another bad night for Georgia football.
