Georgia football made the shocking announcement Saturday morning that they were changing their game time for their week two contest against Austin Peay. This game was originally scheduled for 3:30 pm EST, but Georgia announced roughly seven hours before kickoff that the game time was moving up an hour to 2:30 pm EST.
This decision was made because of the potential for a storm to move in and cause a delay towards the end of the game, so starting the game an hour earlier will allow the game to finish without a delay.
While that reasoning makes a lot of sense, it doesn't account for Georgia fans who were planning on attending the game who now have every right to be upset at UGA.
Lsat second game time update is horrible for fans
As mentioned, Georgia's game against Austin Peay was moved up an hour earlier than originally scheduled about seven hours before kickoff. While seven hours may seem like a lot of time, in reality it really isn't much time at all.
Georgia fans travel from all across the state on gamedays, with some fans driving upwards of four hours the day of. So how is this fair to those fans who may not even be able to make it to the game on time now?
Then there are the fans who won't hear about this update and show up at 3:30 pm expecting the ame to just be starting when in reality it will almost be halftime.
Georgia was able to make this update because this game isn't on TV, if it was on TV then it would still be starting at 3:30. But since Georgia had the ability to adjust the start time they should have done so at least a day in advance to let fans adjust their arrival schedules for this game.
