Georgia football is ready to welcome Austin Peay to Sanford Stadium for their second game of the season. The Bulldogs and Governors were set to do battle at 3:30 pm EST on Saturday, September 6, but Georgia has just announced that they are adjusting the start of the game because of expected inclement weather descending on Athens.

Georgia vs Austin Peay game time moved up to avoid weather

Georgia just announced Saturday morning that the Bulldogs will now take on Austin Peay one hour earlier at 2:30 pm EST. This adjustment was made to avoid severe weather that is predicted to hit Athens later this evening.

It is very uncommon for game times to be changed in general, but it is especially rare for game times to change the morning of the game. But this is the smart move to make as this is a much better option than starting at 3:30 and having to pause the game for a weather delay.

This will have a major impact on both teams as they now need to adjust their schedules to prepare for this game. Thankfully this announcement was made early enough in the morning to give both teams plenty of time to make their necessary adjustments.

Austin Peay enters Saturday's contest riding high as they just defeated Middle Tennessee 34-14 on the road last week. Georgia however is also feeling good about themselves as well as they took down Marshall 45-7.

The Bulldogs are massive favorites on Saturday as FanDuel Sportsbook favors Georgia by a staggering 48.5 points. So in reality it's not a matter of if Georgia will win this game but by how much they will win by.

Georgia has never covered a spread this large during Kirby Smart's tenure as head coach, so in all likelihood they won't cover this spread today. Regardless, it is still important for UGA to play well because they need to be as sharp as possible heading into their week three showdown at Tennessee next week.
