Former Georgia football quarterback Carson Beck is once again making headlines in Miami. The former UGA quarterback has since made the move south to Miami (FL) for one final season of college football, and it seems like he hasn't stopped making waves since arriving in South Beach.
The recent news surrounding Beck is that he has decided on a new jersey number, and that is No. 11. While this may seem like the last thing that should ne newsworthy, there are a few reasons why.
First QB to wear 11 at Miami since 2001
Miami quarterbacks for two decades now have refused to wear the No. 11. Maybe they have another number they prefer already, but it is quite strange to go over 20 years without a Hurricane QB wearing the No. 11 that Beck chose.

One of the biggest reasons however why this is noteworthy is because the last Hurricane QB to wear this number was Ken Dorsey, who won Miami's last National Championship in 2001.
Is Beck trying to tell everyone that these are his goals at Miami? Everyone knows that his aspirations are to a win a title at Miami, but it is quite interesting he chose to go this route instead of just sticking with No. 15 like he wore at Georgia.
Georgia fans poke fun at Beck
Georgia fans will likely take any chance to poke fun at Beck throughout the entire 2025 season. And yes, that includes six months before the season begins in March over something is simple as a new jersey number.
But Georgia fans made sure to remind everyone how many interceptions Beck threw last season and how it relates to his new jersey number.
Carson Beck has chosen to wear the No. 11 at Miami (1 fewer than the 12 INTs he threw in 2024).

Nice goal for the transfer QB.https://t.co/TCloupml9A
To be fair to Beck, this is a weird thing for a UGA fan to make fun of him for since this directly impacted last season's results in a negative way, but is anyone surprised a Georgia fan is saying this? At the end of the day, this is all in good fun and something Beck likely knew would happen before he officially announced his decision to move on to Miami.
