Georgia football is on top of the college football world, but there is one team that continues to be brought up this offseason as being a step ahead of the Bulldogs. That team is Texas, who many believe will be one of the best teams in the country.

Likely no one will deny that Texas will be a very strong team this season, but will they be good enough to win the SEC or a National Championship? That remains to be seen, but ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum feels very confident in the Longhorns entering the 2025 season.

“Absolutely,” Finebaum said via saturdaydownsouth.com. “They have Arch Manning, in case you have not gotten that email from the front office. He is expected to be better than Quinn Ewers. I was not that impressed with Ewers last year. I think Arch Manning, had he come in Cotton Bowl, [Texas] may have had a better shot and maybe even beaten Ohio State. But he is going to be the leader of this team. They re-loaded in the portal to the tune of millions and millions of dollars. I think Texas, other than having to go to Ohio State in Week 1, is in great shape.”

Texas continues to receive more hype than Georgia

Most Georgia fans probably won't be offended if people don't predict them to win the National Championship this season. However, it is getting quite annoying for Texas to receive so much more hype than Georgia this offseason.

Everyone should remember that Georgia beat Texas not once, but twice last season. These games also took place at Texas and in the SEC Championship game, so there really is no way to deny that Georgia was the far better team last season.

Finebaum's reasonsing for why Texas is his clear favorite entering the 2025 season is because of quarterback Arch Manning and the Longhorns impressive transfer portal haul this offseason. However, Georgia also loaded up in the portal this offseason as well, and Gunner Stockton arguably has shown more in actual game reps than Manning has up to this point as well.

Georgia thankfully will get their chance to face Texas again this season at home in their SEC regular season finale. So UGA will have their chance to prove Finebaum, and the rest of the country, wrong.
