Georgia football made major news on Sunday as they earned another commitment to their 2026 recruiting class. It's nearly impossible to one up the addition of five-star quarterback Jared Curtis from last week, but four-star safety Jordan Smith is an elite recruit in his own right.

Smith made his pledge to Georgia official on Sunday, which gave the Bulldogs one of the best safeties in the 2026 recruiting class. According to 247Sports, Smith is the No. 56 overall player in the country as well as the No. 6 ranked safety and No. 5 overall player from his home state of Georgia.

A commitment of this magnitude will always have a massive impact on Georgia's team recruiting ranking, and that's exactly what happened as Georgia shot up the rankings and passed one of their biggest SEC rivals.

Georgia leapfrogs Alabama in recruiting rankings after 4-star commitment

According to the On3 team recruiting rankings for the 2026 class, Georgia currently has the No. 6 class in the country. This is two spots better than Alabama who is No. 8 and one spot above Texas A&M who is No. 7.

Looking at the teams above Georgia shows that UGA could move even higher up this list very soon. Three of the five teams above Georgia have far more commits than UGA, who currently sit with nine commits, so as Georgia adds more players they should continue to move up these rankings.

Speaking of adding more commits, the Bulldogs are on the verge of adding more recruits to their class, with five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell set to announce his commitment on May 13. The Bulldogs are now the heavy favorite to win this recruitment, so it looks like just a matter time until they add the No. 1 player in the country.

His addition should send Georgia flying up the recruiting rankings once again, so cross those fingers because Tuesday could be another massive day for Georgia.
