When it comes to Georgia football in the Kirby Smart era, there are two guarantees, high expectations and next level recruiting. This week has been no exception as 4-star safety recruit Jordan Smith has become the latest to officially announce his commitment to the University of Georgia.

Smith, from Houston High School in Warner Robins, GA, chose the Bulldogs over other programs such as Alabama, Tennessee, Florida State, and Georgia Tech.

Georgia continue to recruit at a high level

Always consistent and true to form, Coach Smart let out his customary two-word exclamation of Go Dawgs!!, which serves as a call to Dawg Nation that Georgia has just received a new commitment. And Smart did exactly that shortly after Smith’s announcement.

For those who follow college football recruiting closely, Smith’s commitment does not come as a total surprise as there had been rumblings that a commitment from Smith could be coming after Smith sent out a somewhat cryptic, but revealing post via X Saturday evening.

Standing at 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Smith ranks as the No. 6 safety prospect in the nation and becomes Georgia’s ninth commitment to a 2026 recruiting class that appears to be gaining steam, especially after five-star QB Jared Curtis re-committed to the Dawgs on May 5.

Get your popcorn ready

Just in case Curtis and Smith’s commitments are not enough, Georgia is poised to receive even more positive news on the recruiting front really soon, as they have become the heavy favorites to win the commitment of the No. 1 overall prospect Jackson Cantwell, who has set Tuesday, May 13, as his commitment date.
