You just had a feeling a surprise or two was going to be on the way for Kirby Smart and Georgia football with the Early Signing Period getting started on Wednesday. Well, that is the case, with some big news arriving to start the day.

Jared Curtis' recruitment is the problem with college football today

That'd be that 4-star interior offensive lineman Tyreek Jemison is going to stay in the Peach State after all. Moments ago, news broke via Hayes Fawcett that Jemison, who was previously Kentucky-bound, has flipped his decision to Georgia and he'll be putting the pen to paper with the Dawgs. This is quite literally a massive get for Smart, as Jemison checks in at 6-5, 325-pounds:

4-star OL Tyreek Jemison has committed to Georgia in a huge get for Kirby Smart

You can't teach size and Jemison has a whole lot of it. He's indeed ranked as a 4-star prospect, plus the No. 17 interior offensive lineman and No. 30 player from Georgia according to the 247Sports Composite. Throughout his recruitment, the new Dawg picked up tenders from 48 programs.

That's right, nearly 50 schools put an offer on the table, with his list including Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, NC State, North Carolina, Nebraska, Rutgers, Pitt and many others. Smart and his staff kept on recruiting the big-bodied lineman and those efforts just paid off in a huge way.

While some people might still be bummed that Jared Curtis ended up changing his mind and committing to Vandy, this Jemison news sure helps reduce the sting. Also, don't forget that UGA is putting together one of the top 2026 classes out there.

With nearly 30 new players coming in (as of this writing) for '26, 247Sports has the class ranked No. 6 in the nation. Smart keeps bringing in elite talent year after year and that's once again going to be the case this Early Signing Period. Jemison has added his name to the list and he's no question an exciting get.
