It is always an exciting day whenever Georgia football makes an addition to their program. More often than not this occurs when UGA earns a commitment, but there is another way Georgia makes significant changes to their program as well.

Hiring new coaches to their coaching staff.

Kirby Smart has already added multiple coaches to his staff this offseason, but he isn't stopping there as he added a new coach on the defensive side of the ball late Tuesday night.

Defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh

Defensive line coach Jimmy Brumbaugh is the latest addition to Georgia's staff as of Tuesday night.

Brumbaugh has spent the last two seasons coaching at Coastal Carolina, but he has made many stops in the SEC throughout his coaching career. However, his career in the SEC began as a player where he was a defensive lineman at Auburn.

Brumbaugh has also coached for Auburn during his career as well as he coached their defensive line during the 2022 season. He has also spent time at Kentucky for three seasons as well as Tennessee where he was the Co-Defensive Coordinator in 2020.

Brumbaugh has made countless other stops outside of the SEC as well, including Colorado, Maryland and East Mississippi Community College. On top of that, he also spent some time at Jacksonville State, Syracuse and Louisiana Tech.

It's clear to see that Georgia is getting a very experienced coach, but taking a closer look at Brumbaugh's playing career one will quickly see how elite of a player he was. During his time at Auburn, he recorded 291 tackles and 15 sacks while also being named to three All-SEC teams throughout his career.

Georgia has always been very strong up front on the defensive line, and the expectation is for it to remain that way. But with as much experience as Brumbaugh has, there should be no doubt that UGA's defensive line will continue to be one of the best in the country.
