Georgia football defensive back Daylen Everette is the embodiment of everything that Kirby Smart wants to see in his program. A talented player who strives to be better than he was the day before. A determined and knowledgeable football player who is still willing to take on new information. Someone who is competitive, but not undisciplined. Those are all key attributes to being a successful and smart football player at Georgia
Well, Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs received some big news when Everette, who is the 2024 SEC Championship Game MVP, announced that he will be returning to Georgia for the 2025 season.
Daylen Everette is back
Everette is coming off a season that saw him finish with career highs in interceptions (3), tackles (58) and forced fumbles (2). But for Everette, the 2024 season will be most remembered by his MVP performance in the SEC Championship game against the Texas Longhorns when he intercepted Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers twice.
Everette's return is tremendous for multiple reasons, but the most apparent reason is because Georgia is relatively young and inexperienced at defensive back, specifically corner. Everette will be the only player within this group with any substantial playing time after the departure of starter Julian Humphrey, who transferred to Texas A&M back in mid-December, so his play in the secondary will go a long way for Georgia's defense.
Everette brings back a much needed veteran presence to a position group that will feature the likes of newly-minted starter Daniel Harris and talented rising sophomore Ellis Robinson IV. So Everette, being the leader that he is, will be huge not just for his play on defense, but to help in their development as well.
