Georgia football has had the eyes of the world on them all season long. Whether college football fans are tuning in to cheer Georgia on, hope UGA loses, or they just want to see a good football team play, people have been paying attention to Kirby Smart and Georgia all season long.

Now it’s very normal for Georgia to be one of the most watched teams in any given season, but this year Georgia was the most watched team in the country, and the next closest team trailed very far behind.

Georgia football was the most watched team by far

This season Georgia football led the nation with an average of 8.6 million viewers per game. That number seems massive on it’s own, but it really gets put into perspective when you compare it to the other teams who lead this list.

Ohio State was the No. 2 team with 6.8 million, followed by Alabama and Texas who both eclipsed an average of 6 millions viewers as well. So while those teams were able to bring in a lot of viewers as well, they really don’t even compare to what Georgia what Georgia brought in.

However, looking back on Georgia’s schedule it really shouldn’t be a surprise at all that they brought in the most viewers on average. They played in many high profile games this season including Clemson, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas and Tennessee. Even their game against Georgia Tech was the most watched game of that weekend.

But the biggest draw of all was during their SEC Championship win against Texas, which was the most viewed college football game of the season.

So whether people are tuning in hoping to see Georgia win or lose, UGA is must see TV. And that likely will continue into the College Football Playoff as well.
