Georgia football and Kirby Smart got off to a slow start this year in the transfer portal. The Bulldogs had many of their own players opt to enter the portal, but unfortunately for Georgia they were unable to earn commitments of their own. This wasn't because Smart and his staff weren't trying to recruit some talent to Athens, they just weren't able to win in any of these recruitments.

That however changed in a big way over the weekend when Georgia earned commitments from USC transfers Zachariah Branch at wide receiver and Zion Branch at safety.

And while these commitments were massive, Georgia still had a lot of work to do in the transfer portal before next fall. There are a lot of positions that need help from the portal, and thankfully Smart and his staff got that help in the secondary when they earned a commitment from a starting defensive back out of the portal on Monday morning.

Miami (FL) DB Jaden Harris

Miami (FL) defensive back Jaden Harris made it official as he committed to Georgia early Monday morning.

Harris just finished his second season with the Hurricanes, and had a great season this year. He finished the season with 40 tackles, 1.5 sacks, two passes defended and an interception. This all came in his first year as a starter on one of the better teams in the ACC which is very impressive.

Harris now joins a Georgia secondary that needed a lot of help with depth heading into next season. It remains to be seen if Harris will be able to earn a starting spot or not, but he will have every chance to do so this offseason. But even if he doesn't become a starter, he will be a huge piece for the defense next season and someone that Georgia will be able to rely on whenever he's on the field.
