Running back Nick Chubb has been one of the most beloved Georgia football players over the last decade. Not only did he have a historic career at Georgia, but he also had an impressive few seasons with the Cleveland Browns after being taken in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
Chubb rushed for 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons (996 rushing yards as a rookie but that’s close enough) before tragedy struck during the 2023 season. During week two of the 2023 season, Chubb suffered a season ending knee injury that was about as gruesome as injuries can get.
Chubb missed the beginning of the 2024 season before returning for eight games. But another injury prematurely ended the 2024 season for Chubb as well.
Running backs hardly stick around for long NFL careers as it is, but most careers are over after two significant injuries. That however is not the case for Chubb who will reportedly be signing with the Houston Texans on Monday, according to the NFL Networks Ian Rapoport.
Nick Chubb’s legacy is already set with Georgia fans
As mentioned, Georiga fans love Chubb more than most other former Bulldogs. Chubb perfectly embodies what it means to be a Bulldog, both in his time at Georgia and in the NFL with the Browns. So it doesn’t really matter how his career goes in Houston, because UGA fans will always love Chubb no matter what happens the rest of his career.
Obviously Georgia fans hope he finds a lot of success with the Texans, which is more than possible especially because of how solid their team is. So here’s to a lot of success for Chubb and Houston, because Georgia fans would love nothing more than to see him have at least one more electric season.
