Ever since Georgia lost to Ole Miss a few weeks ago, the College Football Playoff committee has not respected the Bulldogs. UGA somehow fell from No. 3 to No. 12 after losing to a ranked Ole Miss squad on the road, but they have slowly climbed up since then.

This week Kirby Smart and Georgia football were the No. 7 team in the country, so they did move up five spots in the last two weeks. But UGA didn't jump anyone to get there, even after beating Tennessee. Georgia only moved up because of teams that lost in front of them. So the CFP committee isn't really respecting Georgia more than they did before, they just had no choice but to move them up because of other teams losing.

But now as the college football world is heading into conference championship weekend, the CFP committee now has no choice but to respect Georgia.

CFP committee has to put Georgia back in their top 5

To be fair, Georgia didn't do anything against Georgia Tech on Friday that makes them deserve to be ranked higher. Sure their come from behind win was very impressive and showed that this Georgia team does have some championship qualities about them, but it was against an average ACC team. However, it never should have gotten to the point that it did.

But there were two teams this weekend that lost in front of Georgia in embarrassing fashion. No. 6 Miami (FL) lost to an unranked Syracuse team 42-38, and No. 2 Ohio State was embarrassed by a 6-win Michigan team, losing 13-10 at home. Both of those results are more than enough to move them behind Georgia, carving a perfect path for UGA to move back into the top five.

Will the committee actually do this? That remains to be see, and after this year who knows what to expect from them. But one things certain, Georgia has done enough to earn their respect, so it's about time the committee actually gives it to them.
