All season long, the rest of the country did not believe in this Georgia football team. The entire country didn't think UGA was a serious threat to win a National Championship, and they definitely didn't think Georgia would be able to pull out this win in the SEC Championship game against Texas.
But Georgia did what they always do and proved everyone wrong by beating No. 2 Texas 22-19 in overtime.
While a lot of people doubted this Georgia football team, arguably no one doubted and disrespected them more than the College Football Playoff committee. But after all of that disrespect this season, Georgia gets the last laugh as the CFP committee has no choice by to respect the Bulldogs now.
Georgia get the last laugh over the CFP committee
After Georgia's loss to Ole Miss last month, the CFP committee crazily dropped Georgia to No. 12 in their rankings. This put UGA outside of the 12-team bracket with only three games remaining. This was a clear message from the committee that they didn't think Georgia was good enough to compete in the playoff, and if they lost one more game they might just keep them out of the playoff altogether.
So what did Kirby Smart and Georgia do? Dominated a top 10 Tennessee team at home the next week and followed that up with wins against UMass and Georgia Tech. These three wins to finish out the regular season were likely good enough to earn Georgia a spot in the CFP even with a loss in the SEC Championship game, but Georgia was not going to settle for just barely making it in.
Georgia went out and beat Texas for the second time this season as an underdog, and showed the entire college football world that they are a legit threat to win a National Championship this season. And now, after all of this disrespect from the CFP committee, they only have one thing left to do.
Give Georgia the overall 2-seed in their playoff bracket.
Oregon will be the 1-seed after going 13-0 and winning the Big Ten Championship, but the 2-seed belongs to Georgia. And the committee that so clearly does not like Georgia and wanted to punish them every chance they had will now have to respect UGA and give them the overall number 2-seed in their playoff.
