Georgia football once again has one of the most difficult schedules in the country next season. A lot of that has to do with the SEC schedule makers getting lazy and giving every team the same conference schedule as last season, so that means Georgia once again will have to play the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas.
However, the Bulldogs' non-conference schedule is a little easier next season since they do not have an early season matchup with a big name non-conference opponent. Most years Kirby Smart and Georgia face a power four opponent week one like last year when they took on Clemson, but that is not happening during the 2025 season. So the only major non-conference opponent on the schedule is the annual season finale clash with Georgia Tech.
This game already had some major news announced a few months ago when the game was moved from Tech's home stadium to Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, but Monday night there was a new piece of information released about this game.
Georgia vs Georgia Tech moving to Black Friday
According to multiple sources, the in-state showdown against the Yellow Jackets will be played on Black Friday, Nov. 28 this upcoming season. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 29, but both parties have decided to move the game to Black Friday for the second season in a row.
It's pretty clear why Georgia and Georgia Tech decided to do this. There are so many fewer games on Friday in college football, so this game will have that many more eyes on it compared to if they played on Saturday when pretty much everyone else does. Also, based on how electric this game was this past season, it's hard to argue against running it back on a Friday again.
This game will likely have a lot of hype around it once again. Georgia will probably be ranked very high like they normally are, and there is a chance that Georgia Tech is ranked as well. And after the huge win for UGA in last year's edition of this rivalry, everyone will want to see how things go down this time around.
