Doesn't it kind of feel like Georgia football's season is over after their 28-10 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday? That might have to do with fans still not being used to the new 12-team College Football Playoff format as opposed to the previous 4-team field that has been used for the last decade.

With the old format, Georgia's season would already be over. Sure they could still win an SEC championship, but even that may not have been good enough to make the playoffs. However, now that the field has expanded to 12 teams, it is still more than possible for Georgia to make the CFP this season.

So what are the odds that Georgia in fact does make the playoffs this season?

Odds for Georgia to make the College Football Playoffs

According to FanDuel, Kirby Smart and Georgia currently have -500 odds to make the College Football Playoffs this season. This implies that Georgia has an 83.33 percent chance to make the 12-team field. These odds are tied with Indiana for the fifth best in the country, and surprisingly are better than both Ole Miss and Alabama, the two teams Georgia lost to.

These odds are far from a statistical guarantee, but it's a lot higher than it would be if the field was still only four teams.

So what do these odds tell us?

These odds quite simply tell us that if Georgia wins their final three games this season, they will be in the 12-team field. That is easier said then done, but if Georgia can manage to beat Tennessee, UMass and Georgia Tech, UGA will find themselves somewhere in the CFP field. This is true egardless of if they get to play for an SEC championship or not.

These odds also tell us that Georgia could maybe even make the field with another loss. If Georgia wanted to make the playoffs with three losses, their final loss would have to come to Tennessee because a loss to UMass or Georgia Tech would look much worse. But the Bulldogs could still sneak into the 12-team field even with a loss to the Vols on Saturday.

However, let's hope it doesn't get to that point. Let's hope that Georgia wins their final three games convincingly so it leaves no doubt that they should be included in the College Football Playoffs this season.
