The biggest question mark heading into next season for Georgia football is the quarterback position. Not only did Carson Beck transfer to Miami (FL), but Jaden Rashada also entered the transfer portal as well.

Losing Rashada may not seem like as big of a deal, but he would have competed for the starting job this offseason. So having on less player competing to become the starting quarterback in 2025 does impact that battle some in a negative way.

Because of these losses, Kirby Smart and his staff have been targeting a few quarterbacks in the transfer portal. Georgia hasn’t really made much progress with anyone yet, but there is a QB in the portal that Georgia has reportedly begun targeting.

North Carolina transfer QB Jacolby Criswell

Jacolby Criswell is a transfer quarterback from North Carolina. He has spent five seasons in college so far, but has had quite the interesting path throughout his career.

Criswell’s first three seasons in college were spent at North Carolina, but after the 2022 season he transferred to Arkansas for one season. After spending the 2023 season with the Razorbacks, he transferred back to North Carolina where he was the starter this past season for the Tar Heels. During this season, he completed 186 of 320 passes for 2,459 yards, 15 touchdowns and six interceptions. He als ran the ball for an additional 103 yards and three touchdowns as well.

It’s unclear at this time how much interest Georgia has and if Criswell shares that interest as well, but for now Smart and his staff are targeting him and making somewhat of an effort. If Criswell transfers to Georgia, he will be able to compete for the starting job next season. Gunner Stockton and Ryan Puglisi would likely still have a better chance to win the starting job, but the more competition this offseason the better.
