An interesting rumor dominated the Georgia football news cycle on Friday, and that rumor surrounded Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo and his status on Georgia's staff heading into next season. Rumors began swirling that Bobo was going to step down and retire as Georgia's Offensive Coordinator due to a variety of reasons, but those rumors were quickly dispelled by various insiders in Georgia's program.
But even after these reports came out, people still thought there was a chance that Bobo could retire. So that is when Rivals insider Radi Nabulsi posted on Facebook and explained what he was able to uncover from people close to Bobo.
Will Mike Bobo be leaving Georgia?
The first rumor that Nabulsi discussed was that Georgia approached current Georgia Tech Offensive Coordinator Buster Faulkner to replace Bobo, but Nabulsi stated that this encounter never actually happened.
Nabulsi also shared that he directly asked Bobo at the Sugar Bowl if he would retire at the end of the season, and in the above video shared, “No, that he (Bobo) does not plan to retire at all.”
However, the Sugar Bowl was two weeks ago, so things obviously could have changed by then. That is why Nabulsi reached out to many of his contacts close to Bobo and the Georgia program on Friday to see if anything had changed with these new rumors coming out. And Nabulsi stated very clearly what he heard from him sources.
“We spoke to someone very, very close to Mike Bobo and we were able to go out and say unequivocally that Mike Bobo has no plans to step down, step aside or quit.”
So there you have it, Bobo has zero plans to retire or step away from the program. Nabulsi did go on to state the obvious at the end of his video that this could change at any point. He also stated that Kirby Smart could fire Bobo, or any coach for that matter, whenever he wants to as well. So there is still a chance that Bobo could be off the staff by the time the 2025 season begins.
But as of today, Bobo is on the Georgia staff and there are no plans for him to leave the program anytime soon.
