Georgia football’s 2025 recruiting class currently sits at No. 5 in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings behind Ohio State, Alabama, Auburn and LSU, but that could very well change before this recruiting cycle is over.

It’s been no secret that Kirby Smart and his staff are looking to add a lot of talent to their defensive line this recruiting cycle and as of today it’s looking like the Bulldogs might end up with the top two defensive linemen in the country.

Elijah Griffin

Five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin is the first recruit Georgia is a heavy favorite for according to On3. Griffin is the top ranked defensive lineman in the country and the top player from Georgia who comes in as the No. 6 overall player in the country according to On3.

As of today, Georgia football is the overwhelming favorite to land Griffin as On3 gives them a 95.5 percent chance at doing so. On3’s recruiting experts have also logged four predictions in favor of Georgia to earn a commitment from Griffin as well.

Griffin will be in Athens this weekend as the Bulldogs take on Mississippi State for his official visit. There is no indication that Griffin is looking to announce his commitment, but as the recruiting cycle is inching closer to its conclusion it wouldn’t be the wildest thing in the world for him to make it official.

Justus Terry

If leading for the top defensive lineman and player from Georgia wasn’t exciting enough, how about we add the No. 2 ranked player as well?

Justus Terry is another five-star defensive lineman who is the second ranked player at his position and in Georgia, just behind the already mentioned Griffin. Terry is also just behind Griffin in the overall rankings as he is the No. 8 player in the 2025 class.

On3 is also very high on Georgia’s chances at winning this recruitment as they give the Bulldogs a 96.8 percent chance at doing so. There have also been five predictions logged in Georgia’s favor as well by On3’s recruiting experts.

I think it’s quite obvious how impactful winning both of these recruitments would be. One of the most important things any championship caliber team must do is dominate the trenches and both Griffin and Terry would do just that at Georgia. Combined these two accounted for 175 total tackles, 37.5 tackles for loss and 30.5 sacks during the 2023 season. Sure that is just high school stats and it’d be next to impossible to do that at the next level, but how can you not be excited at the thought of having this duo in Athens?

Neither prospect has a commitment date scheduled yet, but now that signing day is about two months away a commitment could happen at any point. Let’s hope Smart and his staff can get these recruitments to the finish line because commitments from both would move the Bulldogs class all the way up to No. 2 in the country.
