Georgia football is targeting a 4-star Florida State decommit
There's a new name to keep an eye on when it comes to Georgia football and who they are targeting on the recruiting trail. Much of Kirby Smart's focus is on the 2025 class right now, but they are still laying the groundwork for the 2026 class next year.
The Bulldogs already earned a commitment from a 2026 prospect earlier this week, but they now have their eyes set on a top 100 player who recently decommitted from Florida State.
4-star linebacker Izayia Williams
Izayia Williams is a four-star linebacker in the 2026 class. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, he is the No. 92 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 7 linebacker in the country as well as the No. 17 player from his home state of Florida.
Williams committed to Florida State originally very early in the recruiting cycle this past September. But he has since backed off of that commitment on Nov. 7 and is opening his recruitment up to weigh his options.
And it appears Georgia is already one of those options for him.
According to Jed May with Rivals, Williams has plans to visit Georgia soon. He doesn't share when that could be, but it is a safe assumption that it could be in the next couple of weeks. After the Bulldogs' game at Ole Miss on Saturday, UGA has three home games in a row to finish their regular season. This would be a great opportunitiy to get Williams on campus for a visit, especially for the Tennessee or Georgia Tech game which will have amazing atmospheres at Sanford Stadium.
Since Williams is in the 2026 class, there clearly is a long ways to go in this recruitment. But Smart and his staff are doing what they need to do to get involved with Williams as early as possible.
