Georgia football has been on fire on the recruiting trail this week as they have already earned three commitments. But all good things must come to an end at some point, and that is what happened Friday afternoon when the Bulldogs had a 2025 defensive lineman decommit from their class.

3-star DL Stephon Shivers

According to Hayes Fawcett of On3, three-star defensive lineman Stephon Shivers has decommitted from Georgia's 2025 recruiting class.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Shivers is the No. 485 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 49 defensive linaman in the country and No. 16 ranked player from his home state of Tennessee.

Shivers had been committed to Georgia since the end of March, and appeared to be someone completely locked in with the program. That is until two crystal ball predictions were placed on 247Sports for him to flip from Georgia to Vanderbilt.

No word has come out yet if that is where Shivers is going to go, but so far all indications point towards that being the case.

Where does Georgia go from here?

Thankfully for Georgia, Shivers isn't the biggest loss in the world. In a perfect world nobody would ever decommit from Georgia, but the writing has been on the wall and this may be what is best for both parties.

Georgia already has the No. 1 defensive lineman in the country committed to their recruiting class in Elijah Griffin. The Bulldogs are also trending for the No. 2 defensive lineman in Justus Terry, who will announce his commitment in December.

Shivers may have seen these moves being made and felt it was in his best interest to go elsewhere where there is more playing time and less competition. And he can't really be blamed if that is where his head is at.

Now the hope is that Kirby Smart will be able to win the sweepstakes for Terry, because that would make this decommitment a lot easier to get over.
