Georgia football has multiple quarterbacks they are interested in from the 2027 recruiting class. One of those QBs is four-starKharim Hughley, who is one of the top players from the Peach State.

Unfortunately for Georgia, Hughley has decided to end his recruitment early as he announced his commitment to Clemson on Thursday.

Georgia misses on in-state QB to Clemson

The Bulldogs still haven’t shown their hand quite yet when it comes to the quarterbacks they are super interested in from the 2027 class, but Hughley was one of those players. Georgia hosted Hughley on an unofficial visit twice this spring, so that shows how interested UGA was in him.

Unfortunately that interest wasn’t reciprocated as Hughley announced his commitment to Clemson over Georgia, Florida and Illinois.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Hughley is the No. 190 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 14 quarterback in the 2027 recruiting class and the No. 27 player from the state of Georgia.

Georgia likely will have some difficulties recruiting a quarterback in the 2027 class simply because of Jared Curtis’s commitment. Curtis is the No. 1 QB in the 2026 class, so not many quarterbacks will want to sign up to sit behind him in Athens. So UGA’s best chance at landing a 2027 quarterback likely will come from in-state QBs who have grown up as Georgia fans. So the fact that UGA has already missed on Hughley is a big deal.

There are some other quarterbacks that Georgia has shown interest in, but nothing significant has transpired with anyone yet. That isn’t the end of the world because it is still extremely early in the 2027 recruiting cycle, but hopefully Georgia will start picking up some momentum with a few quarterbacks in the near future.
