We are two weeks away from the final edition of the College Football Playoff rankings, and that means the 12-team bracket is finaly beginning to take shape.

This past week of college football was one for the record books as three teams that were inside the 12-team field all lost. All three of those teams (Indiana, Alabama and Ole Miss) were all ranked above Georgia football, so that created some room for UGA to move up after they beat UMass on Saturday.

But how much did the committee move Kirby Smart and Georgia up in this week's rankings?

Georgia moves up three spots in CFP

After a weekend full of upsets, the Bulldogs have moved up three spots to No. 7 in the updated CFP rankings. Georgia comes in one spot ahead of Tennessee, thanks to their head-to-head win from a few weeks ago.

Speaking of Tennessee, that is who Georgia would play in Sanford Stadium in the first round of the CFP if the season ended today. However, that matchup is very unlikely to occur when the final bracket is released. Tennessee will likely stay put where they are as long as they beat Vanderbilt this weekend, but Georgia will move depending on how their season finishes.

Assuming UGA beats Georgia Tech this weekend, Georgia will likely be locked in the playoff no matter what happens in the SEC Championship game. If Georgia wins the SEC, they will take the top four seed from Texas and get a first round bye. If Georgia loses however, they will fall in the rankings slightly and probably end up behind Tennessee.

One thing to note is that Georgia is unlikely to move up in next week's rankings. Every team in front of UGA has a fairly easy game in their season finale. The most likely team to lose is probably Texas, but as of now that seems like a win after Texas A&M lost last week to Auburn.

In two week's time we will have the official CFP bracket. While many feel like Georgia is a lock to make the field, they do have some work to do. And after the inconsistency shown by the committee so far this season, it'd probably be wise to take the decision out of their hands and win out, that way it is impossible for them to be excluded.
