Georgia football and Kirby Smart are yet to earn a commitment from the transfer portal so far this year. However, there is no need to panic over that statement because the transfer portal season is still very young.

There also is the fact that Smart and his staff have been recruiting many players already in the portal, and have even brought a fair amount in on visits as well. So it likely is just a matter of time until Georgia eanrs their first commitment from the portal.

And there is one candidate for who that first player could be.

Washington State corner Ethan O'Conner

Ethan O'Connor is a transfer corner from Washington State. According to On3's transfer portal rankings, O'Connor is the No. 3 ranked corner currently in the transfer portal and the No. 38 overall player in the country.

O'Connor just finished his freshman season at Washington State where he had an amazing season. He finished the season with 32 total tackles, eight passes defended and a whopping four interceptions with one that was returned for a touchdown. Now that is about as good of a season that you will ever see from a freshman corner.

Georgia hosted O'Connor on a visit this past weekend, and it appears that visit went extremely well because On3 currently gives Georgia a 97.3 percent chance to win this recruitment. Two other teams to look out for in this recruitment are Oklahoma and Miami (FL), who O'Connor visited last week as well before his trip to Georgia.

Corner may not be the position that Georgia needs the most help in this offseason, but they definitely could use another player or two to really bolster that position. And that is exactly what O'Connor would do as he would immediately compete for the starting position upon his arrival.

So hopefully Smart is able to get the job done, because O'Connor would be quite the transfer to get to kick things off for Georgia in the portal.
