Georgia football and Kirby Smart have had quite the week in the transfer portal. The Bulldogs have lost their fair share of players to the portal this last week, but thankfully none of the departures were that significant.
But still, Smart and his staff need to find their replacements and bolster up the squad at certain positions before next season gets here. And that is exactly what they were doing this past week.
Georgia has been moving in silence in the portal, but Georgia's site on Rivals shared seven transfer portal recruits that Georgia fans should keep a close eye on.
2 WR transfers expected to visit this week
This week Georgia is expected to receive visits from two very talented wide receivers.
The first is Dane Key, who is one of the top transfer wide receivers in the country from Kentucky. On3 believes that Georgia is losing ground in this recruitment, but we will see if that all changes after he visits Georgia this week.
Georgia is also expecting a visit from LSU transfer CJ Daniels. Daniels had a solid season with the Tigers which included 42 receptions for 480 yards, but while he was at Liberty before heading to LSU, Daniels did have a 1,000 yard receiving season.
Both of these players would be huge additions to Georgia who so desperately needs help at wide receiver, so hopefully Smart and his staff are able to win the recruitments for one of these players.
3 visitors from this weekend
Georgia hosted three transfers this past weekend on Saturday which includes Charlotte QB Deshawn Purdie, Jacksonville State safety Zechariah Poyser and Washington State corner Ethan O'Connor.
Purdie is an interesting target for Georgia because his stats at Charlotte are not as impressive as one might hope for. But Smart has made it clear that he wants to add a QB from the portal this offseason, and Purdie may very well be that player for Georgia.
Poyser and O'Connor are two new names for Georgia fans that were kept quiet by the staff leading up to their visits this past weekend. Maybe that was on purpose because they are really high on these players, but it will be interesting to see if Georgia is able to improve the depth of their secondary with either of these players.
2 new Georgia targets
One new target for Georgia is another wide receiver in Jordan Dwyer. Dwyer is coming off an electric season at Idaho that saw him record 78 receptions for 1,192 yards and 12 touchdowns. He is likely someone that will receive a lot of interest in the portal, but he should be one of Smart's top priorities in the portal at wide receiver.
At this point Georgia has only made contact with Dwyer, no visit or offer has been made yet. But hopefully that will change soon because Dwyer is extremely talented.
Last by not least is another transfer QB who is expected to visit Georgia in the future. Dylan Lonergan is a transfer QB from Alabama who was a top 200 recruit in the country out of high school. Lonergan never played any significant amount of time at Alabama, but he has a lot of potential and is someone that could compete for the starting job if he chooses to come to Georgia.
