Georgia football has had a lot of issues with their wide receivers this season. So much so that everyone in the fanbase agrees that Kirby Smart and his staff need to bring in a lot of new talent to help improve the position next season.
And so far, Smart has shown that he is prioritizing wide receivers in the transfer portal.
One of the first receivers Georgia targeted in the portal was standout WR Eric Singleton Jr. from Georgia Tech, but Singleton just released his top five and it did not include Georgia. But thankfully Georgia is after another wide receiver in the portal that they are still in the running for.
Georgia may be losing ground with Dane Key
Time and time again, Georgia continues to be named as the team to beat in star Kentucky wide receiver Dane Key's recruitment. On3 originally gave Georgia a 100 percent chance to land Key, and a Rivals expert also crowned Georgia as the team to beat as well.
Key had a very solid year this past season as he recorded 47 receptions for 715 yards and two touchdowns. So it is no surprise to see Georgia getting involved with Key, but they are going to have to beat out Ole Miss and Nebraska who are currently in the mix as well according to Pete Nakos with On3.
But it appears that Georgia is losing ground in this recruitment. It isn't a big deal to see any UGA targets visit other schools, that is to be expected. However, it seems like this visit to Ole Miss is carrying a lot of weight, so much so that On3 now has Ole Miss as the heavy favortie in this recruitment.
No official predictions have been made in this recruitment yet, so there is still hope for Georgia. But knowing how desperately Georgia needs to improve their wide receiver room this offseason, this is a very important recruitment for Smart and UGA to win.
