Georgia football will be active in the transfer portal this offseason. Even though the Bulldogs would have one of the best rosters in the country next season even if they didn't add anyone out of the portal, it is always wise for Kirby Smart and their staff to dip their toes in at least a little bit and see if they can improve their roster.
And one position that Georgia could target in the portal this offseason is wide receiver.
Everyone knows how rough of a season Georgia's wide receivers have had this year. Their countless drops have put Carson Beck in a terrible spot and have also stalled UGA's offense one too many times. So it would not be a surprise at all to see Smart and his staff snag at least one receiver from the portal.
And while there are many options already out there for Georgia to entertain, there is one name a Rivals analyst pointed out that he believes Georgia would be a top candidate for.
Kentucky wide receiver Dane Key
Dane Key is a wide receiver for Kentucky who has spent his first three seasons of college ball with the Wildcats. Key has been a very impressive player, even in his freshman season in 2022 when he recorded 37 receptions for 519 yards and six touchdowns.
And every season since then he has improved his numbers, finishing with 47 receptions for 715 yards and two touchdowns this year.
It's important to note that Key has not announced any intention of entering the transfer portal yet, but it does sound like he might end up doing so. Justin Rowland in the above post is an expert for Kentucky's Rivals site, so if anyone has an idea that he could be thinking about entering the portal it would be him.
Time will tell if Key ends up entering the portal or not, but if he does then Georgia fans should immediately feel very good about their chances at landing him if Smart shows interest.
