Georgia football is continuing their pursuit for a new QB in the transfer portal, now showing that they are very interested in three different quarterbacks so far.

The first is a QB from Cal that Georgia is a "top contender" for while the second is a group of five QB that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. But the third QB Kirby Smart and Georgia are showing interest in is from one of the top programs in the country and someone Georgia fans should be really excited about.

Alabama transfer QB Dylan Lonergan

According to Max Olson with On3, Georgia is expecting a visit from Alabama transfer QB Dylan Lonergan.

Lonergan is a former member of the 2023 high school class, where he was a four-star prospect out of Georgia. He was ranked the No. 159 overall player in the country as well as the No. 13 QB in his class and the No. 13 player from Georgia, according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Lonergan has not seen the field much at Alabama during his two seasons with the Tide, but he did get in for a few plays each season. So far in his career, Lonergan has completed seven of his eight passes for 35 yards. He also showed off his athleticism with a solid 16-yard run this season against Western Kentucky as well.

Lonergan still has three years of eligibility left, so he would be a great option for Georgia to bring in. He clearly has a lot of potential based on his high school recruiting rankings, but there is some unknown since he hasn't played a meaningful down of football yet in college. But he would raise the competitive level of the QB room this offseason, which is very important with Georgia looking for a new starter next season.

At the very least, Lonergan would be a great backup option to have for the future, and is someone who could definitely compete for the starting job in the year's to come. And after seeing Carson Beck go down with an injury in the SEC Championship game, it's very clear how important it is to have really good backup QB options.
