Georgia football has been holding steady at No. 2 in the team recruiting rankings for a few weeks now. Obviously the goal at Georgia is to finish with the No. 1 recruiting class, but considering it’s only July there hasn’t been a need to worry about that.
However, Rivals just applied an update to their 2026 recruiting rankings, and this update officially moved Georgia up to the No. 1 team recruiting ranking for the 2026 class.
#Georgia has taken over the no. 1 spot in the 2026 recruiting rankings following the latest Rivals300 update this morning. 🐶

Georgia now has nation’s No. 1 recruiting class
Georgia’s run of commitments in June is what put UGA in position to contend for the No. 1 team ranking in the 2026 class. Before the Bulldogs earned 16 commitments in June, Georgia was well outside the top 20 in these rankings, but that is not the case anymore.
Fast forward to July and Georgia has been holding steady with the No. 2 class in the country, only trailing USC. Georgia even remained at No. 2 after their two impressive commitments on Saturday as well. However, Rivals thankfully updated their individual player rankings on Monday, and this update moved the Bulldogs past the Trojans and into the No. 1 spot.
While it is great to have the No. 1 spot now, what matters most is who has the top class when the recruiting cycle ends in December. So if Georgia wants to remain at No. 1, they’re going to have earn many more commitments. Thankfully Georgia has a lot of targets they are still after who could help UGA accomplish that if they commit to Georgia.
Some of those targets include five-star running back Derrek Cooper, who is scheduled to commit on July 20, and five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson who likely will commit in July as well.
Time will tell if Georgia finishes with the No. 1 class or not, but this update on Monday gives UGA fans a good reason to celebrate how impressive their recruiting class is right now.
