Is Auburn even trying?

Georgia football's success over rival Auburn has been well documented. The Bulldogs have won the last eight meetings against the Tigers, and that streak more than likely will continue this season.

But Georgia's dominance over Auburn extends much further than on field success as UGA has continued to recruit much better than Auburn as well. And the latest example of this was seen on Saturday after Georgia beat the Tigers in not one, but two key recruitments.

Georgia took down Auburn for two commitments on July 12

July 12 marked one of the biggest days for Georgia on the recruiting trail this year. Their success began when five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro announced his commitment to Georgia. Then just a few moments later, four-star safety Tyriq Green, who is the No. 151 player in the country, committed to the Bulldogs as well.

These wins are a good enough reason for Georgia fans to celebrate like crazy, but there is one other fact that makes these wins even better. Georgia's biggest rival Auburn was a finalist in both of these recruitments, and UGA was able to beat them for both of these elite players.

This is just two of many losses for Auburn this year as the Tigers are putting a horrendous recruiting class together. Auburn only has nine commits in their 2026 class which gives them the No. 78 recruiting class in the country according to 247Sports. On top of that, Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has been accused of playing too much golf this summer instead of focusing on recruiting.

Regardless of what happens the rest of the recruiting cycle for Auburn, Georgia fans can relax knowing they have one of the best classes in the country. And the fact that Auburn is struggling so much is the icing on the cake.
