July 12 marked the commitment date for five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro. The No. 3 tight end in the country had Georgia, Texas, Florida, Alabama and Auburn as his five finalists, but Saturday afternoon he officially announced his commitment to Georgia over these other SEC programs.

Georgia comes out on top for 5-star TE
Georgia was the favorite for Prothro over the last few months, but things did get a little dicey towards the end of his recruitment. Earlier this week Prothro was seen at a workout wearing a Florida towel. He was also wearing Georgia gloves during this same workout as well, but seeing him in Gators gear was a little concerning.
That however ended up not mattering as Georgia is the team who came out on top when it mattered most.
Prothro is the first of potentially two recruits to commit to Georgia on Saturday as four-star safety Tyriq Green will announce his commitment later today. Green is the No. 151 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports composite rankings, so this day could still get even better for the Bulldogs.
Prothro is Georgia’s second five-star recruit to commit to their 2026 recruiting class joining quarterback Jared Curtis. The Bulldogs are also continuing to target linebacker Tyler Atkinson and running back Derrek Cooper who are both five-stars as well. Georgia appears to be leading for both as well, so it could just be a matter of time until UGA has four five-stars committed to their 2026 class.
While Georgia fans wait for the final decisions from those two, they can celebrate the huge day that was July 12. Georgia still trails USC for the No. 1 class in the country, but they aren’t far behind. So all it will likely take is one or two more commitments and Kirby Smart and Georgia will officially have the top recruiting class in the country.
