Georgia football has had many elite players come through their program. That is why it is really shocking to hear that UGA has only had two Hesiman Trophy winners in their entire program’s history.

But what if someone told you that it was possible for a Georgia player to win the Hesiman next season? That is exactly what Mark Schlabach with ESPN recently said.

"If junior tailback Trevor Etienne declares for the NFL draft, Frazier should enter the 2025 season as the Bulldogs’ primary back,” Schlabach shared via ugawire.usetoday.com. “He showed plenty of promise as a freshman, running 129 times for 634 yards with eight scores. Frazier, from Compton, California, improved tremendously as a pass blocker and caught 10 passes out of the backfield. He lost a couple of untimely fumbles, though, so ball security will continue to be a focus going forward.”

Nate Frazier has the tools to win the 2025 Hesiman Trophy

In order for Georgia running back Nate Frazier to win the Heisman, a few things has to go his way. For starters, fellow running back Trevor Etienne has to turn pro. Etienne is finishing up his third year of college ball, so he does have one more season he could play at Georgia. It’s unclear if he will return to Georgia or not for one more year, but if he does then Etienne will be the starting running back which would make it impossible for Frazier to win the Hesiman. Etienne could even be a Heisman hopeful himself next season if he returns.

Frazier also needs Carson Beck to leave the program as well if he wants to win the Heisman. Beck also has the ability to return for one final season, and if that happens then Georgia’s offense will be pass heavy once again which makes it unlikely for Frazier to win the Heisman. But if UGA has a different quarterback under center next year, then they will likely run the ball a lot more which will increase Frazier’s chances.

If those two things happen, then the conversation can begin for Frazier to win the Heisman next season. Frazier already showed how dominant he can be when UGA was dealing with all of their injuries to the running back room, so just imagine how much better Frazier will be next year after an entire offseason in the program.

It will always be impossible to say that Frazier will contend for the Hesiman next season even if these two things happen, but there is definitely a chance the he could which would be extremely fun to watch.
