Georgia football has already lost two wide receivers to the transfer portal, including true freshman Nitro Tuggle earlier on Monday.
With all of these losses it was likely just a matter of time until Kirby Smart and his staff began targeting replacements in the portal, and it sounds like that is exactly what they have done. And it just so happens to be a receiver from one of Georgia's rivals.
Georgia Tech WR Eric Singleton
Eric Singleton is a wide receiver from Georgia Tech who is coming off an impressive first two seasons with the Yellow Jackets. As a freshman, Singleton recorded 48 receptions for 714 yards and six touchdowns. Then this past season as a sophomore he tallied 56 receptions for 754 yards and three touchdowns, which includes a monster eight catch, 86 yard and one touchdown performance against Georgia.
According to Matt Zenitz with CBS Sports, the interest between Singleton and Georgia is mutual as he is already planning on visting Georgia in the coming days. There is a chance that Singleton could commit to Georgia on this visit or wait it out and see what other schools show interest. However, UGA getting a visit this fast is a great sign that they are very high on his list if not at the very top.
Singleton still has two years of eligibility remaining, and he clearly would be a huge addition to Georgia's receiving room. UGA's receivers had a lot of issues this season with drops, so any way Smart can address this problem this offseason is crucial. That can either be done by aggresively recruiting the transfer portal or developing the talent coming in this offseason from high school, which includes five-star Talyn Taylor.
It will be interesting to see how this recruitment plays out, so stay tuned as more information will likely come out after this visit takes place.
