Georgia football’s still receiving no credit for beating Texas twice

When will Georgia earn the respect they deserve?

No one can deny that Georgia football hasn’t been the best program in the country over the past four years. During that timeframe, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have won two National Championships, two SEC Championships and countless big regular season wins.

And while it’s nice to have all this success over the past few years, the only thing people care about now is the future. Can Georgia sustain this level of success or will they fall behind other programs who are ready to take their place? Only time can answer those questions, but college football fans and experts will continue to debate who they think has the best chance going forward to dominate the sport.

On3’s J.D. PicKell recently shared his top 10 programs with the best three year outlook, and Georgia was somehow put behind SEC rival Texas.

Georgia should be above Texas

It really doesn’t make that much sense to put Texas above Georgia, even when looking at it from an unbiased point of view. No Georgia fan will deny that the near future isn’t extremely bright for Texas, but they shouldn’t be put above Georgia until they prove it on the field.

Just this last year, Georgia put Texas in their place by beating them in their own stadium and in the SEC Championship game in their first year in the conference. On top of that, the Bulldogs have one of the most talented rosters in the country as they’ve signed a top two recruiting class three years in a row now.

Sure Texas did just sign the No. 1 class in the country, but Georgia was right there behind them at No. 2, so that’s hardly an advantage for the Longhorns. So even though Texas has a bright future, they do not belong above Georgia until they either beat the Bulldogs on the field, win the SEC or win a National Championship.
