Georgia football's 16-9 win over Georgia Tech was the furthest thing from pretty, but at the end of the day it doesn't matter what it looks like. The Bulldogs found a way to beat Georgia Tech once again, and that is the only thing that truly matters.
While this win for Georgia was big for many reasons, the biggest reason by far surrounds the fact that the Bulldogs set a new program record with this victory.

Georgia's win over Georgia Tech helped guarantee their spot in the College Football Playoff this season. It also helped cap an 11-win season which is always a good reason to celebrate. But the best thing that came from this win was the fact that it marked the eighth straight victory over Georgia Tech which sets the program record for the longest win streak against the Yellow Jackets of all time.
Everyone knows how dominant Georgia has been over their in-state rival throughout the history of this rivalry. Friday's victory extended Georgia's series lead to 73-41-5 which is about as lopsided as any rivalry can get. But even though Georgia has always dominated this rivalry, they have never been able to beat Tech eight years in a row, but that changed this season.
The best part of this streak is that it doesn't look like Georgia is going to stop beating them anytime soon. Sure Georgia Tech has become a lot better of a program the past couple years, but Georgia isn't going anywhere under Kirby Smart. They will never stop recruiting at a high level and they will never stop being one of the best teams in the country, and as long as that is the case then Georgia Tech is going to have a tough time beating them.
So who knows how long this streak is going to last, but it doesn't look like Georgia is going to lose to Georgia Tech anytime soon.
