Georgia football is gearing up for the beginning of their postseason run in the College Football Playoff, and while Georgia fans wait for their first game on Jan. 1, they can watch future Bulldogs compete for a high school State Championship.
One Bulldog signee already had a great game during day one of the Georgia High School State Championship games, but two fellow signees had even better showings on Tuesday.
Two Bulldogs erupt in State Championship game
Tight end Ethan Barbour and wide receiver CJ Wiley are high school teammates who have both signed and will join the Georgia football program very soon. But before they move to Athens and begin practice with UGA, they had their State Championship game to play on Tuesday. And these two Bulldogs had one of the best games of their high school careers en route to their State Championship victory.
Barbour and Wiley combined for 13 catches, 197 yards and two touchdowns in Milton’s dominant State Championship win on Tuesday. This performance is about as dominant as it can get, especially in the biggest and most competitive game of their high school careers.
Both Barbour and Wiley will be joining Georgia’s bowl practices very soon, which is extremely exciting for Georgia fans. Obviously neither player will be able to play in the CFP this year, but this extra practice will be huge for their development and put them in the best position possible to contribute next fall.
And hopefully that is exactly what happens because Georgia could really use some help in the passing game next season after their struggles this year. However, Georgia fans probably shouldn’t expect huge seasons for them next year, becuase that should never be expected for any true freshman, but their presence in the locker room and on the depth chart will be huge because both players will be able to contribute next season if needed.
