Georgia football may be gearing up for their College Football Playoff matchup against Notre Dame, but that doesn't mean there isn't enough time in the day for a little rivalry banter as well.

The Bulldogs and Irish are not rivals with each other, so that is not the banter being mentioned here. This banter had to do with the Florida Gators as punter Brett Thorson had some choice words about the Gators recently.

"I could never go play for the University of Florida after being a Georgia Bulldog."

Georgia's culture must top Florida's

As much as it might pain Georgia fans to admit, Florida is a good football program. Maybe that hasn't been the case recently, but they have had their moments in the past where they have dominated not just Georgia, but the SEC and entire sport.

And while that all may be true, this statement from Thorson shows that Georgia has the superior program and culture compared to Florida. Sure Thorson saying this isn't anything crazy as most players in the entire country would not want to go play for their rival, but there is a reason why this carries some weight. And that is running back Trevor Etienne.

Etienne transferred to Georgia from Florida this past offseason, and what a big win that was for Georgia as Etienne has been the best running back on the roster this season. However, the fact that he made this move to Georgia in the first place is a little surprising based on Thorson's comments. But all this really tells us is that Georgia must have a beter culture and program than Florida because players want to transfer to the Bulldogs but not to the Gators.

Thorson's season unfortunately ended during Georgia's SEC Championship game as he suffered a season ending injury, but his impact on the field has been felt all season and he will continue to be a respected voice in the locker room throughout the rest of the Bulldogs' CFP run.
