Georgia football tops recruiting list that no one wants to be on

This was a list that Georgia was hoping to avoid.

The biggest loss for Georgia on the recruiting trail this year is an easy choice. Five-star quarterback Jared Curtis was committed to Georgia not once, but twice, but it was the second time he ditched the program that really broke UGA's heart.

Curtis is the top ranked quarterback in the country who ultimately decided to flip to Vanderbilt right before Early Signing Day. This left Georgia in a place no one wants to be without a quarterback in their recruiting class, but that is the reality of their situation.

Curtis leaving Georgia is old news at this point, but Rivals decided to rub more salt in UGA's wound by naming this the biggest flip of the 2026 recruiting cycle.

Georgia could have a chance to make Rivals eat their words

Not only is Curtis the top ranked quarterback in the 2026 class, but the 247Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 1 overall player in the country as well. So it's impossible to argue against this being the biggest flip of the recruiting cycle.

However, there is a chance that Georgia and Curtis could get themselves off this list.

There are rumors floating around that Michigan could be targeting Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea to be their next head coach. It's unclear how interested Lea is, but if he is does take the job then Curtis likely would not stay at Vanderbilt. Sure he could follow Lea to Michigan, but he could also return to Georgia as well.

Georgia however will be fine regardless of what happens. This isn't the first time a five-star quarterback has ditched Georgia and it may not be the last, but as long as Smart keeps winning championships then who cares about the players that decide Athens isn't the right place for them.
