Georgia football's rise in the recruiting rankings has been an impressive thing to watch. A little over a month ago, the Bulldogs were well outside the top 20 with very few commits in their class. But fast forward to Thursday and Georgia found themselves with the No. 2 recruiting class in the country.
The one team that was above Georgia at the time was USC, but there was no reason to worry about that because the Trojans had 12 more commits in their class already. So it was likely just a matter of time until UGA was able to pass USC and take the No. 1 spot as well.
Or so Georgia fans thought.
Georgia free falls in recruiting rankings two days after reaching peak
The Bulldogs unfortunately did not earn a commitment over the last two days on the recruiting trail. However, there's no need to panic about that because earning a commitment every day is unrealistic. Unfortunately for Georgia though, other teams did add some commits.
In fact, three teams were able to add commits and pass Georgia on the 247Sports team recruiting rankings. USC is still the No. 1 team, but Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Ohio State are all above the Bulldogs now.
All three teams are barely above Georgia, so it would only take one or two commits to take the No. 2 spot back. But for now, Georgia sits with the No. 5 recruiting class which unfotuntely is where no UGA fan wants to be.
The good news is that there is so much time left in this recruiting cycle, and Kirby Smart will add a lot more recruits to this class before it's all said and done. So Georgia fans just need to be a little more patient as they wait to shoot back up these rankings.
