Georgia football will get another crack at Alabama this weekend as the two programs will collide in Atlanta with an SEC Championship on the line. This normally would be concerning for Georgia since they can never seem to beat Alabama, but Vegas actually likes UGA's chances this weekend.
Vegas released their opening spread for this matchup on Sunday and they named Georgia a 1.5 point favorite. That is about as narrow as a spread can get, so Vegas still believed both teams can win on Saturday. But after just 24 hours this spread is already on the move.
Georgia vs Alabama spread is already on the move
It isn't surprising to see the spread between Georgia and Alabama move, but it is a bit shocking to see it move within 24 hours. But that is exactly what happened as Georgia is now a 2.5 point favorite over Alabama according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
This means that the public is very high on Georgia's chances to beat Alabama as they have forced Vegas to give UGA more respect heading into this matchup.
It is still strange to see Georgia favored over Alabama because the Crimson Tide beat UGA in Athens earlier this season. On top of that, Kirby Smart is just 1-7 against Alabama during his tenure at Georgia as well. But one thing in Georgia's favor is that Smart's one victory over Alabama came in a rematch game like this Saturday's will be, so playing the Tide a second time this year may just be the thing he needs to finally beat Alabama.
It will be interesting to see if this spread changes anymore throughout the week, but at the end of the day it truly doesn't matter. All that matters is that Georgia emerges with a victory and brings home their second straight SEC title.
