We are officially one month away from the early signing period for college football. That means Kirby Smart and his staff have very little time remaining to finish out their 2025 recruiting class.

Georgia football's 2025 class is currently No. 3 in the country, but with so many elite prospects still on UGA's radar there is still hope of Georgia to earn the top spot once again.

One target that Georgia is after is four-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens. The 247Sports composite ranking has Nickens as the No. 359 player in the country and the No. 32 player from California.

Last week, Georgia found out that they had made the top five for Nickens along with Cal, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M. However, fast forward to this week and it appears the Bulldogs are losing ground in this recruitment.

Jaden Nickens predicted to Kansas

On3 recruiting expert Steve Wiltfong placed an official prediction on Wednesday for Nickens to commit to Kansas. Wiltfong in a different post went on to say that Nickens is expected to play both football and basketball for Kansas as well.

That may have been the deciding factor for Nickens because it didn't appear that Mike White and the Georgia basketball program had any interest in him on the hardwood, and there's no saying how interested Smart would be in sharing one of his players either. But it is hard to blame a recruit for picking Kansas if they want to play both sports in college.

On the bright side for Georgia, they are making progress with other wide receivers in the 2025 class as well. One name to keep an eye on is top 100 WR CJ Wiley. Wiley is a Florida State decommit who has always been high on Georgia and has also recently stated that Georgia is still in the running in his recruitment. So missing on someone like Nickens isn't the end of the world as long as Smart and his staff are able to find another wide receiver.

No recruitment is over until the recruit announces their commitment and signs with that program. But Nickens feels all but lost at this point. There is no need to panic though, because Smart and his staff may already have another option lined up.
