The calendar has officially hit June, which means that recruiting will be the main focus for all college football programs for the next month. Georgia will host official visit weekends throughout the entire month of June, with the first recruiting event taking place this weekend.
The Bulldogs brought in an impressive list of 18 recruits this weekend on official visits this weekend, and they have already earned one commitment from those recruits visiting. That player is four-star defensive lineman Carter Luckie, who is the younger brother of current Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie.
The commitment from Luckie is an exciting one because he is a legacy recruit. Not only is his older brother currently on the team, but his dad and two uncles played for Georgia during the 90s as well. So seeing a recruit decide to keep the family tradition alive and come to Georgia as well is very exciting.
Luckie however isn’t the only legacy recruit Georgia is after as four-star EDGE Kedric Golston II is a target for UGA as well. According to On3, Georgia had been trailing a few teams in his recruitment, but that changed in a big way this weekend.
Georgia gaining ground on Tennessee for legacy recruit
According to the On3 industry rankings, Golston is the No. 373 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 39 EDGE in the 2026 class and No. 11 overall player from his home state of Virginia.
Golston not only is an elite player, but he is a legacy recruit as his father played for Georgia back in the early 2000s. So this recruitment is very important for Georgia when you combine those two things together.
Tennessee had a massive lead in this recruitment according to On3, but their chances to win have slid back over the weekend. The Vols are still On3’s favorite, but they only give them a 34.4 percent chance to win. Georgia now is right behind Tennessee in second place, when before this weekend they only had about a 10 percent chance to win.
Golston is currently visiting Rutgers this weekend before heading to Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia Tech the next three weekends. After these visits, Golston likely will make his final decision, but as it stands right now, Georgia is catching up to Tennessee in this recruitment in a hurry and could become the new leader very soon.
