Georgia has been one of the teams at the top of five-star running back Kemon Spell’s recruitment ever since he decommitted from Penn State last fall. Spell never planned on committing quickly after decommitting from the Nittany Lions, but it was a known fact that he thought very highly of Georgia.

Those feelings have remained constant ever since, but earlier this week Georgia took a clear back seat to Penn State in his recruitment. That intel came from 247Sports, but Dawg Nation still believes Georgia is in the running for Spell.

Georgia still has a chance with No. 1 RB

Spell is the No. 7 player in the country and the top ranked running back in the 2027 recruiting class. He had been committed to Penn State for quite some time, but the moment James Franklin was fired this season he backed off that commitment.

This is the moment that Georgia soared to the top of his recruitment, with some even believing they were the team to beat. But that no longer appears to be the case after 247Sports logged a crystal ball prediction in Penn State’s favor earlier this week.

Spell is from the state of Pennsylvania, so a return to Penn State was always a possibility. But while this prediction wasn’t all the surprising, it is still difficult to see Georgia fall behind. But the above post indicates that Georgia still has a chance in his recruitment, and considering Spell plans to take some official visits before committing to any school the Bulldogs have plenty of time to surpass the Nittany Lions.

Notre Dame is another team to look out for in this recruitment as the Irish round out Spell’s top three right now. While Georgia might be trailing both of these schools right now, anything is possible as long as Kirby Smart is involved.
